The founder, Sal Miwa was born and raised in Japan before moving to the U.S. over 50 years ago. Since 2011, he has called Hawaii home. Trained as an engineer, he earned a master’s degree in Aeronautics and Astronautics from MIT in 1981. However, his career has been defined more by business leadership than technical work.
With over 40 years of experience, Sal has managed a diverse range of businesses, including manufacturing, import-export, aviation, online, real estate businesses, spanning private, public, and non-profit sectors. He is also deeply involved in community service, having served as Chairman of the Japan-America Society of Hawaii and as Chair of the Pacific Air Forces Civilian Advisory Council. In 2025, he was appointed as an Air & Space Force Civic Leader by the U.S. Secretary of Air Force.
